The Spare The Air campaign was created by the air districts of the Sacramento region with the intent to enhance awareness about the health impacts of ground-level ozone air pollution, and educate Sacramento region residents about how they can improve air quality.
 
Take a Hike Logo Take a Hike - City Walks was established by State Parks in 2005 as a program to encourage individuals in the greater Sacramento Area to walk as a means of getting healthy. Over the years the program has been adopted by other departments who also encourage their employees to participate. The program is voluntary and not a state sanctioned activity. Once a month (on the 2nd Tuesday) walkers are encouraged to meet on their lunch hour to participate. Again, participation is voluntary. It has been a voluntary activity since its inception in 2005.
